Crude oil is the most important source of energy for the economy of the world and is therefore, critical to economic growth .A bottleneck for petroleum producers lies in transportation and storage of crude oil, due to wax deposition in pipelines which adversely affect exploration, production and transportation. Deposition of wax in a region changes the thermo dynamical equilibrium for which the temperature falls below a temperature called the cloud point. The flowing of the crude oil through the pipeline during the transportation will deposit the wax if the crude oil temperature is lower the cloud temperature .Cloud temperature is the temperature at which dissolved solids are no longer completely soluble, precipitating as a second phase giving the fluid a gloomy appearance.Experiments were conducted on three solvent to crude oil ratios (10: 1, 15: 1 and 20: 1) for temperature range of 10°C to 50°C, with the solvent mixture of Acetone and n-Pentane. A light microscope was used to view the oil sample, before and after the treatment, allowing the wax crystals to show up as bright spots on a black background.
