The paper discusses the automated primary vibration standard realized with highest levels of accuracy and precision at CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, India. The work describes the factors affecting the measurement uncertainty and studies done for improving the accuracy and precision in vibration calibration standards. The work analyzes the measurement uncertainty in low frequency and medium frequency automated primary vibration standard in frequency range of 0.1 Hz to 20 kHz and recently upgraded secondary vibration calibration standard in frequency range of 5 Hz to 10 kHz. The present work also focuses on the challenges ahead and measures undertaken to improve the accuracy and precision in low frequency vibration calibration for sensitivity and phase determination of vibration transducers.
