Exact results of a room acoustic modeling using geometrical acoustics (GA) are possible to obtain only with a good model with properly described acoustic parameters of structures, as well as reliable algorithms of ray/cone tracing and/or image source method. While description of geometry is relatively easily, it is usually impossible to specify exact values of absorption and scattering coefficients of acoustic materials. For existing rooms it is usually impossible to specify that values due to limited information about the construction and materials used there. It should be also noted, that acoustic parameters of materials depends on the sound field in the room, what makes an information taken from the literature inaccurate. Source of discrepancies, especially in an early sound reflections, could be also a very simplified way of modeling a diffusion in the most commercially available GA software. In the paper, different optimization methods were used in order to find proper sound absorption and scattering coefficients of materials creating selected interiors. Results were compared for selected geometrical acoustics algorithms, The proper choice of the acoustic parameters for fitness function was also examined.
