Abstract By dispersing nanoparticles in a base fluid, nano fluids can be formed. These nanofluids provide important properties in thermal engineering applications, physical, chemical stability and high thermal conductivity. This paper presents experimental determination of the effective thermal conductivity of Nickel Iron Oxide nanofluid. It is observed that thermal conductivity enhances significantly [1-3]. NiFe2O4 nanofluid is prepared using synthesized nanoparticles with base fluid as water with the aid of sonication by two-step method. Ultrasonic velocity, density, refractive index values are measured for different molar concentration of NiFe2O4 nanofluid. Viscosity values are measured for different concentrations at different temperatures. The acoustical parameters like adiabatic compressibility, intermolecular free length, free volume, internal pressure etc., are calculated and the results are discussed.
