Elastic and Ultrasonic Properties of Semiconducting Transition Metal Dichalcogenides (TMDCs) from Group IV-B Shakti Pratap Singh* and R. R. Yadav Physics Department, University of Allahabad, Allahabad-211002, India *E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org ABSTRACT In the present work we have calculated temperature dependent second and third order elastic constants (SOECs and TOECs) of semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) from group IV-B using simple interaction potential model. The SOEC have been used for calculating ultrasonic velocity at different orientation of propagation with unique axis of TMDCs. The thermal relaxation time and ultrasonic attenuation have been calculating with the help of SOEC as well as thermal conductivity. It turns out that the ultrasonic attenuation in temperature range 300K-700K is due to phonon- phonon interaction. From analysis it is found that thermal conductivity plays important role in ultrasonic attenuation due to phonon- phonon interaction.
