Testing of an aero-engine for its desired performance parameters and functionality during development, after manufacturing, overhaul or after repair is a critical and essential activity. These tests are carried out in uninstalled test facilities located in engine manufacturer's premises or customer bases. The noise level during testing is generally above 135 dBA for the fighter engines containing a broad band frequency of noise . To reduce the noise level to industrially acceptable level exhaust silencer, air intake silencer for the test facilities are designed. In this paper design of an exhaust silencer for a 85 kN thrust class aero-engine test facility which has been designed, installed and commissioned indigenously shall be presented.
