A simplistic model to predict the sound pressure level over Delhi, India is presented in this paper. The predictions are made by integrating the ambient noise data using time series modeling techniques. The predictions are done using the ARIMA (autoregressive integrated moving average) technique. The R-squared, RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) and Normalized Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) are used to test the validity and applicability of the developed ARIMA models revealing adequate accuracy in the model performance. It is observed that the modeled values show a good fit with the noise data during the years 2011–2014. Our analysis confirms that using time series models prediction of the noise is possible and the results found using the chosen ARIMA model suggest that this model offers a simple and efficient method for determining the future values of noise level than the more complex deterministic models.
