Acoustical comfort of the acoustically critical spaces is coming up as important aspect of the designing these days. Unlike in the past where it was achieved with the mere retrofitting after the acoustic discomfort arrives. Recognising the criticality of acoustical comfort especially for spaces like auditorium, meeting and conference rooms etc. right at the designing stage gives advantage in terms of quality, un-necessary retrofitting, and many more issues arriving out of it. It can also save a lot of money by optimizing the acoustic design and avoiding overdesigning which is very common. This paper briefly talks about the Environmental Noise Mapping Study undertaken to address the plausible noise pollution problem. The earlier empty site besides the Service Building (having chillers) was getting developed which might have faced the Noise pollution problem because of the existing chiller’s noise. The environmental noise mapping study was done for the chillers as well as the existing site to asses different possible solution to mitigate the noise pollution affecting the neighbouring site. Different scenarios like acoustical treatment to chillers, isolation or replacement of chillers, relocation of chillers were analysed and studied. Based on the analysis findings the best and optimum solution was proposed to the design team. Predictor Lima software is used to generate the noise mapping as well as to predict the noise levels after implementing different solutions.
