We study a sound source enhancement using a spherical microphone array to reduce the noise of microphones mounted on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Post-filtering methods with microphone array processing have been proposed for speech enhancement based on Wiener filtering. This algorithm requires estimation of the power spectral densities (PSD) of the target speech and rotor noise in order to calculate a Wiener filter for extracting the target speech. Each PSD is estimated by using different multiple fixed beamformers’ outputs, which can be formed in the same microphone array. We propose a new PSD estimation method that uses the beamformer's outputs and theoretical directivity pattern designed in spherical harmonic domain. In addition, we propose another method that directly obtains the complex amplitude of some plane wave components from the coefficients of spherical harmonics. We conducted experiments using a 12-channel spherical microphone array placed in front of the UAV and confirmed that the proposed method effectively suppressed the rotor noise.
