A polycrystalline, double layered colossal magnetoresistive manganite LaSr2Mn2O7 is prepared by the sol-gel method. The phase formation of the sample is confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction technique and its surface morphology is studied using scanning electron microscope. The ultrasonic investigations are made on this sample at room temperature by using ultrasonic pulse transmission technique at 1 MHz. From the obtained values of longitudinal and shear velocities, the values of elastic constants are calculated. Then, the calculated elastic constants are corrected to zero porosity using Hasselman and Fulrath's formulae and Ledbetter and Datta formulae. The closeness in the measured and the corrected values of elastic moduli confirms the quality of the sample prepared and the reliability of the techniques employed.
