In recent years, increased concerns of the consumers towards Noise generated by Home Appliances and market competition, low noise levels have become an essential attribute for Home Appliance Industry. Many people living with their appliances in smaller space desire for quieter Machines. Due to faster Product Development Cycle and Time to Market it is essential to develop systematic methodology to address Noise issues. This challenging task can only be achieved through the use of efficient numerical simulation tools. Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) and Boundary Element Method (BEM) are proven to be powerful tools for assessing Airborne Noise transmission. In current practice of full Home Appliance modelling requires exterior Sound field modelling as the part of assessment and analysis. SEA and BEM have got their own strengths and weaknesses as far as exterior Sound field Modelling is concerned. This paper explains approach of Multi Domain Boundary Element Method (MDBEM) for exterior sound field modelling to study Airborne Noise transmission from Home Appliances. This approach enables to predict Sound Pressure Levels at interested Field points, Average Exterior Pressure, Average Interior Pressure and Power per unit Pressure for concerned Home Appliances as function of many geometrical factors of the Appliances like shape, size and leaks.
