Nowadays with stringent competition, NVH has become an important product attribute which defines the level of product quality and differentiate it from masses. NVH is an integral part of product development where all the processes can be bundled: design, predictive analysis development, and validation. Home appliances like Washing Machines have become integral part of daily human lives and so is the radiated Noise as by product. It has become an utmost need to improve the NVH characteristics of the product with less cost and short time to market. Simulations play a key role in optimizing the product right in the concept stage and avoid unnecessary development cost. Structural Acoustic Sensitivity Analysis appears to be very effective tool to assess the Structure Borne Noise (SBN) radiated from products in early stages of Design. Finite Element Method (FEM) and Boundary Element Method (BEM) are two widely used approaches for predicting Structure Borne Noise (SBN). However, BEM has definite advantages over FEM like accurate modeling of acoustic field within and outside the product by defining the leaks, reflections etc. For this project structure under the consideration is Washing machine and objective of this work is to predict Structural Acoustic Sensitivity (Noise Transfer Function) using VA One software code and correlate the simulation results with experimental results within deviation of 3 to 4dB and establish the methodology.
